Roronoa Zoro
Zoro wanted to be the world's greatest swordsman since he was a child swinging wooden blades against his best friend Kuina. When she died, he made her a promise: the best swordsman in the world, so her name would be on his lips. He's been cutting a path toward that oath ever since.
He speaks in nods, sleeps standing up, and cannot navigate his way out of a public library. But put three swords in his hands — one in each fist, one between his teeth — and he will cut through anything: steel, dragons, time itself. He's the only man alive who scared Dracule Mihawk, and Mihawk took him as a student to make him worthy of the fight they've both been waiting for.
Where Luffy is the crew's heart, Zoro is its spine. Unshakeable. Unreasonable in his own quiet way. When the captain says "we go," Zoro is already walking. When the captain says "I won't lose," Zoro has already sharpened his blades. That's the deal. That's been the deal since Shells Town.
