Franky

Shipwright · Cyborg Franky · Builder of the Thousand Sunny

Cutty Flam built his own body. Every cola-powered nitro-burst, every Strong Hammer, every Weapons Left. What was a dying boy run over by the Sea Train is now a 400-pound shipwright cyborg who poses in speedos and sobs like a child whenever someone shows him loyalty. Franky is the crew's most emotionally honest member. Say something kind to him and he will cry and call you SUUUUUPER! while striking a pose.

He was Tom's apprentice. Tom built Gol D. Roger's ship, the Oro Jackson. When the World Government executed Tom for the crime of building a pirate's vessel, it left Cutty Flam orphaned a second time — and burning with a question: if shipwrights are responsible for the pirates they build for, then what's the point of building ships at all? The answer came two decades later, when Luffy showed up needing a vessel to sail to the end of the world.

The Thousand Sunny is his answer. A dream ship for the Pirate King. Built from Adam Wood — the treasure of the world's trees — using the blueprints Tom gave him before the execution. When Franky joined the crew, he left behind his freighter and his gangster empire and his whole life in Water 7, because the ship he'd been saving for a lifetime had finally met the captain it was supposed to carry. SUUUUUPER.

⭐ Iconic Moments

Scenes that defined Franky

Water 7 · Tom's Workshop
I'M NOT CRYING!
Finding Tom's blueprints again. Realizing the ship Tom believed in was still waiting to be built. The big cyborg weeps openly, then immediately insists no one saw it. The emotional register of the entire character, in five words.
Enies Lobby · Burning the Blueprints
This is the only way.
Rather than let the Pluton blueprints fall into Spandam's hands, Franky burns them in his body. The knowledge of the ancient weapon dies with him. An eternity of debt settled.
Thriller Bark → Leaving Water 7
I'm joining!
He's given everything he ever wanted in Water 7. The Sunny. His freedom. His gang. And then Luffy offers him a spot on the crew. He cries so hard he can't stand. Then he strikes the pose. SUUUUUPER!
